Victoria Beckham Explains

Victoria Caroline Beckham, formerly of the surname Adams, was one of the five Spice Girls, the biggest and most successful all-female pop music band of all-time. Beckham was born on April 17, 1974 in Harlow, Essex. She is the eldest of three children. Beckham watched the musical Fame as a six year old girl and decided to pursue a career in the music industry.

In 1991, Beckham was enrolled in the Laine Theatre Arts in Epsom, Surrey and also attended St. Mary’s High School in Cheshunt where she often asked her father not to drop her off at the gates in their Rolls Royce because she was embarrassed by her family’s wealth. This partly led to Beckham being known as “Posh Spice” in the Spice Girls.

Posh Spice’s Brief Solo Career

When the Spice Girls disbanded, Beckham embarked on a solo career and released her first single, “Out of Your Mind” in collaboration with Dane Bowers and Truestoppers in August 2000. The eponymous debut album only reached number 10 in the UK charts and sold a mere 50,000 copies despite costing a reported £5 million to produce. Beckham then created a number of albums that were never released and eventually called time on her solo career in 2004.

Away from the limelight of the music industry, Beckham has filmed a total of five official documentaries and has written a number of books. “Learning to Fly” was the first book Beckham wrote and it sold more than 500,000 copies in the UK alone. Her second book, “That Extra Half an Inch: Hair, Heels and Everything in Between” was another big seller with 400,000 copies sold in the UK. This second book revolved around Beckham’s fashion tips.

Beckham is married to former Manchester United and England footballer David Beckham. The pair met at a charity football match in 1997 and were married two years later in July 1999. The wedding had more than 400 staff working at it, which cost more than £500,000. It was later in the same year that “Posh and Beck” bought their most famous home, a mansion worth £2.5 million that underwent a £3 million renovation and was dubbed Beckingham Palace by the British media. The Beckhams have four children: sons Brooklyn, Romeo and Cruz and daughter Harper. Brooklyn looks set to follow in his father’s footsteps and become a professional footballer as he is currently on the books of Premier League outfit Arsenal.

From Music to Fashion

Fashion is Beckham’s main love these days. Beckham began selling dresses but has since expanded into separates and luxury handbags, some of which retail at £18,000. Beckham collects handbags and reportedly owns more than 100 Birkin bags that are made by Hermes. One of these bags is very rare and is worth £100,000 by itself. Her collection is said to be worth in the region of £1.5 million.

Already wealthy before being successful with the Spice Girls and now in business, the Beckham’s are thought to be worth in the region of £470 million collectively, which is wealthier than the British Queen.
